Can't answer your security questions?

Register again for a new credential. The CRA says you can regain access this way if you forgot your user ID, password or security answers, as long as you still have your existing multi-factor authentication method. Your old CRA user ID is removed.

Signed up with your bank?

If you registered with a Sign-In Partner, you don't have a CRA user ID: sign in with your online banking. Forgotten banking details are reset by your bank, not the CRA.

Step by step

  1. Open the official CRA sign-in page and choose "CRA user ID and password".
  2. Select "Forgot your user ID?".
  3. Enter your social insurance number and date of birth.

You also need the amount from line 15000 (total income) of your income tax and benefit return from one of the previous 2 tax years. It is on your notice of assessment.

  4. Answer the security questions you chose when you registered.
