My Service Canada Account Security Code and Locked Account Help

My Service Canada Account requires multi-factor authentication: an authenticator app, text message, voice message or passcode grid. Set up a backup method. If your account is locked because of the security code, call the help desk at 1-866-279-5238.

Security methods

  • Authenticator app on a phone, tablet or computer.
  • Text message to a cell phone (Canadian or international).
  • Voice message to a cell or landline.
  • MSCA passcode grid for people without a phone. It expires after 24 months.

Choose one main method and register a backup. The authenticator app can only be your main method, not the backup.

Change your method

Sign in, open the Account menu, select Security settings, choose the method to replace and follow the instructions.

Locked out or can't get a code?

Use your backup method. If you can't use either, or your account is locked because of the security code, contact the Registration and Authentication Help Desk.
