Several December payments come earlier in the month than usual: the Canada child benefit on December 11, and CPP and OAS on December 22.

The GST/HST credit / Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit has no payment this month. The last 2026 payment was October 5.

Wait before you call: 5 working days for the Canada child benefit and the Alberta child and family benefit, and 10 working days for the GST/HST credit or Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit, Ontario Trillium Benefit, Canada workers benefit advance and the NL disability benefit. For Service Canada benefits, wait 5 to 10 business days. Then contact the program that pays you.

Watch for scams: the CRA never sends refunds or payments by e-transfer or text message. Always check dates on official government websites.
