OAS Clawback 2026: Recovery Tax Thresholds Explained
If your net income is above the threshold, you repay 15% of the excess from your Old Age Security. For July 2026 to June 2027, the threshold is $93,454 (based on your 2025 income); OAS is fully clawed back at $152,062 for ages 65 to 74 and $157,923 for 75 and over.
Thresholds
| Income year | Repayment period | Minimum threshold |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 | July 2026 to June 2027 | $93,454 |
| 2026 | July 2027 to June 2028 | $95,323 |
Example
With 2025 net income of $100,000: $100,000 − $93,454 = $6,546. 15% of that is $981.90 to repay for July 2026 to June 2027, deducted from monthly OAS payments (about $82 a month).
On your tax return
The repayment is calculated on your return and deducted as a social benefits repayment on line 23500.
